i've had this female guppy that won't give birth. She hasn't had them for long time. about a month ago i saw the babies eyes in her stomach so i put her in a breeding trap, and put the temp. to 80F. i don't know whats wrong!

dont stress her out, this can cause the babyies to be later, which can cause other problems, best to wait it out, and not move her for awhile.

I'm not sure if this is the same for livebearers, but i read somewhere that you could maybe lower the temp a little bit, i read this for egglayers, but it might work for guppies.

ok the best thing to induce birth is RAISING the temp a little... that is for livebearers... if you did stress the momma out then she could be "holding" them in until she feels safe... i agree, the best thing to do is NOT move the females when they're close to birth, as it does stress them out... try to keep the tank a little darker (turn the lights off for a day or so) and that should ease the stress a little... try not to move her anymore.

Hi there,
just wanted to comment that I used to try breeding traps for female guppies. It never worked. I tried it 4 times.
3x the female died.
1x the female aborted all her fry and almost died.
I wouldnt recommend a breeding trap myself.
You would be much better off to get a seperate tank for growing out fry, plant it up nicely, and put expecting mothers in there till they deliver.

IMO, yes take her out. As she is stressed, and quite frankly it sounds like she feels "trapped". Seeing all the other fish loose. Either transfer her to the tank you will be using for a grow out tank, and remove her back to the main tank once she gives birth, or just let her give birth openly in the main tank. Depending on the guppies, they may not eat the young fry. Try placing a lot of floating plants in the tank. Live bearer fry tend to go and stay right at the surface. The floating plants will give them great cover. However, I have also had great success with a heavy bottom cover as well, with guppies.

Yep, nicely said Acid.
What I have always done is just let my guppies
give birth in the main tank, and then I rescue
as many fry as possible. This may seem like you
lose a lot, but you really dont. I usually rescued
20-30 fry every time, and over about 6 months, that
really adds up.
