I would say that males and females cannot coexist without breeding on some level. You may keep a group of all one sex or the offspring can be given to a local fish store in order to gain store credit.

Yup,

If you have boys and girls, you will have fry.

Now, as has been said, other fish (including the guppies) will appreciate the snack. ]:|

You cannot keep them together without having fry, but if you have other fish in the tank, they might eat them before you see them.

They'll reproduce no matter what :%)

I'm one of the small percentage of people who keep guppies that don't eat their own fry. I'm working on a color/patter strain; culls and extras go into my SA cichlid tank

Depending on what size tank you're thinking of keeping them in I've found angels and gouramis to be very good at fry control.
