My six girls is varying stages of pregnancy: One or two are pretty slim, might be at the beginning of their cycle. One girl just about to drop... think she dropped the next day: ~Meow. kitten Fish Guru Meow? Posts: 2266 Kudos: 2194 Votes: 19 Registered: 18-Nov-2003 | I've found that the gravid spot will change colors, and it doesn't always seem to have a reason. For the longest time, I didn't have males in with my females, virgin brides if you will, as I raised them from fry. The gravid spots were always black. Now that I've bred them, the gravid spots change color, especially right before giving birth. As you can see above on the picture of the single female, you can see how the gravid spot's color isn't black... it's mottled because you can see the fry inside. Basically, wait and see... you may have fry in a month or so. Also, she can sometimes hold onto sperm for a long time, until she feels safe to give birth. I had the two yellow/orange girls for two months before they started dropping. *shrugs* ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |
