Anybody know how old platys need to be before they can start reproducing? I have 2 "fry" the were born in my tank and now are growing up together in a 10 gal. The boy is about 1/3 the size of an adult, and the girl is about 1/4. They are about 4 months old. I don't want more babys, and am just wondering how long they can live together before I have to do something.

thanks,

-Dennis

Seperate them now, you might still have a chance. I find that my guppies (and when I kept the platties) would start breeding as early as 4 months, but sometimes not till 6 months, so seperate them now, if you can tell the sex difference then it's time to seperate...Hope it's not too late, Heidi

Yes, it might be too late. But, on the other hand fry are fun to watch grow and mature hml
