losing pregnant guppies | |

Since there are fry in the tank I was doing cleanings every day or every other day. This was going to be mom's third drop. She'd been doing fine in the tank, active, eating well. Yesterday she seemed 'quiet', staying near the bottom of the tank, and being quite large I assumed there would be a new batch of fry this morning. Unfortunately I found her dead Is there an explanation for this, did I do something wrong? I'm upset about losing her and would like to avoid having the same thing happen in the future. Thanks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

Or maybe overstressed by the whole thing, can easily happen, maybe she was too close to her due date. "and would like to avoid having the same thing happen in the future" Move the fish a day or so sooner, acclimate for an hour using a tupperware container, the water chemistry between the 2 tanks would be slightly different, and the fish especially e to any sources of stress at this time. Sorry for your loss, you did the right thing in moving her to the other tank so she wouldn't get harassed.. Last edited by DaFishMan at 02-Oct-2005 15:13 The Amazon Nut... |

It carries the chance for all sorts of complications and sometimes you just don't know what went wrong. Sometimes any small stress can cause something to happen or sometimes you do everything right and they still have a problem. There's just too many potential problems to not lose one every so often. |
