hello,

I have three mollies left from my first fry related disaster (i didn't even know they were there).

over the last few months,

I had six guppies - 2 males four females

I had seven platies, 3 males and 4 females.

so far the male guppies have died, no male fry have survived from any group and there is one male platy left, admittedly there is only one female platy left too but on the whole I have replaced males far more than females - mollies being the worse my biggest molly "fry"(kinda full grown now) has bullied two males practically to death along with help from girlfriends, i have given one away and the other one died last week.

so does any one else have this weakness in males? is it natures way of limiting a population in a small area?

I have to say i really like liverbearers, my tank looks lovely , i think i will just let my ladies live it up alone!

thnaks

GFG
xx

I've had the opposite problem as you but mine has been confined to mollys.

I originally started this hobby with mollys. It seemed as soon as they had babies, they developed equilibrium problems and went on to the great lake in the sky soon after. I didn't know the difference then between male and female (well until they had babies) but I know now they were all female. I gave up on mollys.

I next acquired platys and have had no problems with them at all. I still have all the originals - 3 males and 3 females - the females of which are constantly popping out babies

I recently decided to try mollys again and have had the same problem as before with the female... she had babies (I didn't even know she was pregnant) and is now having equilibrium problems. The two boys are fine.
