My sister has three male mollies. No females, because she doesn't want to have to deal with overstocking.

The males are having a GRAND old time *cough* with each other. I mean, full out courting behavior. And yes, all three are most definitely male. This has been going on basically since day one. They chase each other, dance and do all that lovey dovey stuff - pretty much to the exclusion of everything else except eating.

Two of the mollies have been in this tank for a year or so, the newest one joined the group in May. He was all against the frolicking for a while, but finally caved in. Now, the three of them are hardly separated from each other and swim in daring feats of joy around everything in the tank, and heaven help the danios that get in the way. At least THEY haven't joined in the romping.

In adding the third molly, thoughts were not unlike pairing 2F to 1M... spread the "joy" and let one or the other rest in between dancing spats. But noooo... if anything, they're even MORE enthusiastic in their dancing, and all three are almost always in motion. Whether they're shimmying around, circling each other or poking their nose at another molly's stomach, the frolicking never ceases.

Anyone else experience this with all-male groupings? My male guppies don't do this! (They just dance for any female that shows up, no matter that the only females in the tank are betta girls two times their size or more!)

While the antics of the tank are entertaining, I'm just wondering about these over-sexed mollies. Any female would have jumped ship by now, rather than be subjected to the unending appetites of these males, I swear it!

I'd think that there's no way to STOP this behavior... I guess I'm just looking for feedback. They're not exactly the brightest fish in the world, so it's not like a toy could simply be introduced to keep them occupied. Someone tell me that these mollies aren't the ONLY crazy ones!

Kitten, I think they are just really enjoying themselves for the sake of well enjoying themselvesNow if your sister has a bottle of little blue pills lying around maybe that would explain the problemAll kidding aside they are just feeling the youth and have to show off for someone. I forget what size it is and what else is in there other than danios...oh never mind danios nippy? try a betta girl perhaps?
