Many fish will hide from stress when put in a new tank. I have had fish hide for well over a week until comfortable. Just keep an eye on it to make sure it is eating something within the next couple days.

I'de go with alkyne on that one. I've got a few platy I just bought recently for cycling my tank, and they didn't even start figuring out the pecking order for the first couple days.

I think it's a combination of both...getting used to the new home and lack of company. Platies like being with other platies
