one more platy??? | |
T/A Mega Fish Posts: 942 Kudos: 1796 Registered: 20-Feb-2004 | I currently have a 10 gallon with four peppered cories and two female platies. I am thinking about adding another platy, preferably a female. That should be fine, correct? |

However, I think that you'd be better off adding two more peppered cories. They are shoaling fish, and like to be kept in nice big groups. The more cories you have, the better. I view six as the minimum number for a group of cories, if you can handle that many. Go with the cories, they will thank you for it. |

But since two died in the past 3 months, I don't want to add any more peppered cories. That's why I know have the platies in with them. Plus, the four remaining cories are actually more active then ever. They swim around the whole tank with the platies. Before, all six cories just sat around the bottom all the time. |

Tonight, I just picked up a red male(?) platy. So far, my one blue female has been chasing the new guy all over the tank. Is it normal for a female platy to show dominance over a male? |

After watching them for awhile, it looks like he's trying to mate already. I guess in about month, I'll find out if he was successfull. |

A 10g tank is simply too small for this large species of cory. I do feel one more platy would be just fine though! Sneaky_Pete, thanks for the reassurance on the third Platy. EDIT: Deleted question about Cories. Started new thread. Last edited by T/A at 12-Jan-2005 18:30 |
