Also, if it was only her second pregnancy, it could have been caused from the fact that her body isn't used to giving birth yet. See how the next "litter" goes, and I wouldn't worry about it. |

houston Fish Guru You want what when? Posts: 2623 Kudos: 2462 Votes: 337 Registered: 29-Mar-2003 | 2 weeks is rather short, are you sure that you didn't miscount? my usual gestation period for my platties was about 28 days or so...but like tanker it has been a couple of moons ago(about 2-3 years) Do you have more than one female in the tank? If so it could be that they are dropping fry with 2 weeks between the drops, which will drive you crazy:%) What I do if I really want to know when a fish is going to drop is mark it on the calendar...and like was said earlier if you are sure it is the same platy it could be that she was over stressed and dropped early, this can happen...keep an eye on the temp in the tank and see if it is fluctuating during the day, and check your water parameters... Fish (live bearers) do have a way either prevent themselves from dropping their fry, and a way to drop them early (miscarry) thus helping to preserve their ofspring...crazy little girls that we love way too much... Feed her up, and make her comfy, she'll be fine and soon you will be having more fry than you can count, right tanker? how about your 300+ mollies heidi ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Well boy meets girl and it's a good bet Girl's gonna play a little hard to get But they both got the same thing on their mind Ain't that the way that the world goes round ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom."
