I just bought my son 4 red coral platies for his 10 gallon he has 4 cherry barbs and 2 ottos in there already, I really like the way they look and was wondering, I have a 30 gallon with 10 tiger barbs 4 coolie loachs and 3 ottos and was thinking about getting some red coral platies, now I know if I get then and the female has babies the t-barbs will eat them and will seperat the female when she looks pregnant but was wondering other than that are they good tank mates together

firstly... the tiger barbs won't be the only ones who'll eat the babies... even the mom will, if she gets the chance! so, the best thing to do to maximize baby survival is to put the mom in her own simple little tank.

how do your tiger barbs seem in the community that you have? because they can have a tendency to be fairly nippy (especially as they get older). so, if yours seem to be ok, then maybe try some platties. but, if your tigers seem pestery, maybe leave them out!

hope that helps!
