I can identify the male by his gonopodium, but he also has a much more defined lyretail, strong points that resemble the letter C. Is this tail difference between the sexes common or just dependent upon the individual fish? Poor quality pic as they're still acclimating; I also adjusted it a bit to show the tails as best I could. But sometimes you will find a female that will have a very nice lyrce c-shaped tail. Usually the nicer tails belong to the male, but i would never depend on that method to sex the fish. |
