I want to keep 2 swordtails... if i get a pair will they breed no matter what? I dont think anything i am planning for my tank would eat the fry except maybe the parents hmm....

in a 29 gallon would 2 males quarrell if i didnt keep any females? or is there enough teritory that they would stay away from eachother... there are tons of plants to hide it, not sure if that helps...

Well if the pair is a male and female they will more than likely breed. But yes the parents, or any other fish for that matter will attempt to eat the fry so you should have an extra 10g on hand w/ a heater to keep the fry in. Swordtails are community fish so chances are two males will not fight if there's not a female. The two would be more likely to fight if there were two of them and only one female. They should be okay.

My brother kept two males together in a 10 gallon. They got alone great, never went at each other. They actually always hung out together. So for your larger tank, there definitly should be no problems between the two males.

ok cool. I like the look of the males but I do not want any fry, so I think two males will work out, I think 29 gallons will be enough territory for 2 even if they dont get along

they will be siblings anyway, so hopefully that will make them more likely to be OK together since they grew up together... is that true for fish? i know its true for most other animals...

The siblings theory doesn't hold true for ALL fish without exception, but generally speaking, siblings who are raised together will get along better than 2 unrelted adults who are introduced to each other at maturity

On your original question, in a 29, 2 males should be just fine That's plenty of space for them to claim a bit of personal space each.
