It can be so exciting, even after having zillions of fry it's still excited...(Happy New Years Mom....me and sis are gonna do a fry drop this morning only about 40 or 50 each, ok Mom? Hope so, cause guess what? It's too late!!!) It still excites me though... Enjoy, and welcome to FP!!! Heidi [/font] "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." I have a lot of tanks and fish, mostly guppies. When I was a boy my friend gave me a pregnant female plain as possible guppy in a paper cup. She dropped some fry within a week and I was hooked. Guppies offered the live birth experience to me as a young boy. I could witness birth monthly. A whole lifetime only took a year or two. I had to be a fish doctor when they got sick. I believe young people learn more from live bearers. Guppies are the best because they are a designer fish. With selective breeding and an occasiional outcross one can design one's own strain of guppies. It is possible to get two or three generations per year with the right environment. Starting with good fish one should make substantual headway in three or four years. My present goal is big healthy guppies with big fins and large drops. I can worry about color later. max |

I'm in the Houston, Texas area...it might be nice to swap some guppies. My guppies all tend to drop their ry within a week of each other. My older females have finally reached their full size (or so I believe). They are about 2 inches in length, and when "fully loaded" with fry look like tanks... Younger female--tail has blue highlights; One of my typical males...larger flaired tail, longer dorsal fin. This one has a reddish tail with purple highlights (highlights didn't show up , and the dorsal fin is silvery in color. My males have fins that are about the same length as their tails and their tails are about as long their bodies... At any rate it gives me a chance to show off my guppies I love them, such colors, sizes, and personalities!!! Crossing endlers with guppies is a sensitive subject as endlers are thought to be extinct in the wild now. There are some wild guppies that look alot like endlers, can occasionally be found on aquabid. Bdadawg |

I've had this "family" of guppies for about 3 years now I believe...I'm not terribly sure just how long each and every guppy has been alive, since they are breeding fools...unless that is you count the newest batch of fry...then I can tell you that they are 6 days old Heidi "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom."
