hey guys! well i have 3 platys and 1 is black and red (female) and the other two are yellow with black markings on the fins (male and female) so all together i have a 1 male and 2 females. the male always gos after the yellow female and bites the red and black female....why? is it bcause of her color? hes been doing that since i first got them...about 3 months ago..OH by the way i have 3 platy fry for the yellow female platy, she looks like shes going to give birth again! ]

Some do stick to their colours i don't no why, if he's to agressive to the red and black one maybe you should think of taking it back to the lfs.

The problem could be in your male-female ratio. One male to two females is usually good, but the point is to keep more females so they won't get picked on by the nasty males. It could be because of her color, but if your tank is large enough, you may want to consider getting another female.

I'd remove the picked on female. I had almost exactly the same scenario with a a male and two females. One of the female was closer in colour to the male and they got along great. The other one was a tuxedo platy and the male chased her constantly. I have a big aquarium with lots of hiding places and figured the picked on female could easily find refuge. The male got more and more aggressive, though. One morning I woke up to find the female dead. Either the male killed her or the stress of being constantly harrassed wore her down. So, if you can get her out, it might be a good idea.
