A while back I purchased a guppy pair, shortly after the male died for unknown reasons. I moved the female into a different tank by herself, I didn't buy another male.

I found one guppy fry in the original tank, it's another female, and when she was large enough she joined her mom.

Earlier this week I got another male, and yesterday another M/F pair, so total guppies is 5...2M/3F in a 30g.

Mom is the largest guppy and she's made it very clear she doesn't like the males. Not just swimming away & avoiding them but showing agression towards them. Is this normal guppy behavior or is she just not used to having males around?

I don't know if color makes any difference to them...mom is a metallic blue/purple mix, one new male is a purple dragon, the other a metallic blue.

mabe she just doesnt want to mate! when i added some males in with a female she went crazy, but the males were not buying it! so mabe it is the same with your female!

I'm not really concerned about mating, she's just mean to the males no matter what they might be doing.

Funny thing is my sparkling gourami has taken a big interest in the male guppies, poor girl

well then i guess in some way the males are bothering her! and she wants them to not bother her or something!

There should be a 3 female to 1 male ratio for live-bearers. Even 1 male to 1 female is constant stress for the female.
