Changing tanks | |
gaviin8 Hobbyist Posts: 89 Kudos: 18 Votes: 0 Registered: 12-Jul-2003 | I was wondering what steps I needed to do in order to switch tanks. Right now I have a 50 gallon glass FOWLR with 2 clowns,1 Orange Diamond Goby, 1 yellow damsel (which I plan to get rid of during the switch), 1 cleaner shrimp, 1 serpent star, and you basic cleanning crew(hermits, snails). A buddy gave me his old 55 gallon plexiglass with an overflow. Any information would be helpful. Thanks |

You could even individually bag them if you want, or move them into 5 gallon buckets, whatever floats your boat. The switch shouldn't take that long. The key is to minimize stress and keep their environment stable. I would plumb the tank before you start moving. Since you have a reef ready tank now you're going to need to set up a sump and everything. Then I'd fill with your old substrate and water, and make a new batch of water (same temp, etc.) to top off the rest. Bring the old rocks and everything over too. -Formerly known as the Ferretfish |
