i did a ton of researching and i have run into yet another question. live sand is supposed to be so important to many aquariums but i have also come across information that says live sand isn't worth it. should i just buy regular reef sand? i also see that some people use play sand. i have tried play sand before and it killed my filter.the aquatic sand seems to just stay at the bottom more( but thats also whe my filter intake was in the sand ) can i use the play sand and if i do choose that road should i drop a shirmp in there to help the bacteria grow?

i have been reading soo much and i havent seen anything about an air pump and air stone. are those things necessary for saltwater fishes? thanks in advance because i know that you al will help me soo much.
