Hi

I am at the stage where I have a tank full of water and nothing else, With the standpipe it came with the water falling sounds like a waterfall.

So I tried a Dusro standpipe, this made the waterfall almost silent but there was a gurgling sound almost as loud as the waterfall I had to start with.

I dont know what to do, the tank is in my bedroom and I cant sleep with it running.

I have read the FAQ on http://null[link=http://www.rl180reef.com/180/pages/standpipe/construct.htm ]http://www.rl180reef.com/180/pages/standpipe/construct.htm [/link] but I have a wet dry setup where the water comes out of the pipe onto the trickle plate over the bio balls, so I cant submerge the outlet at all.

By the way there is not much room inbetween the tank and filter, there is about 4 inches of straight pipe and then a 90degree bend into the outlet pipe sitting about 1/2 inch above the trickle in the filter.

So any ideas how to silence it would be great, I can try post a pic of my wet dry filter\sump if need be

Thanks

To silence the gurgle, install ball valves on the drain lines going into the sump. The durso standpipes are capable of passing more water through them than regular standpipes. They are trying to "suck" more water through them than there is water.

If that doesnt work, try to adjust the size of the hole you have in the cap on the durso's.

I have tried changing the hole in the cap and the water is at a stable level it dose not go up and down so I am guessing thats right so I might have to try a ball valve then.

Any other ideas?
