Salt mix and sea water | |
Week End Big Fish Posts: 414 Kudos: 436 Votes: 1 Registered: 16-May-2004 | I know that some people buy filtered sea water from aquariums (I am one of them) and some people uses various brand of salt mixes. And my qz is..is it ok if I use both of them together? Also... are trace elements really necessary when various brands of salt mixes claims that they include those elements in correct amount already? How about sea water? |

As long as salinity and temperature match, there should not be a problem. Typically, you still need to dose certain elements, especially when keeping certain corals. They 'use' it up at a far greater rate than would be avilable between water changes. You can probably dose less if you do very frequent water changes, but you may even still need to dose certain things depending on tank inhabitants. |

With them they have a very high tendancy to bleach, RTN, or STN and thats not a good thing.
