just started a new tank--how long does it take for the sand to settle? its like a big cloud in the tank--not an algea or backterial bloom ive had those. Theres NOTHING in the tank just sand salt and water correct saltiness though but i think the sand was stirred up to much?? thanks

Once you get bacteria growing on the sand it will "stick" the sand together and hold it down. Until then you will probably have some cloudiness. I wouldnt worry about it though.

The live rock will help the sand to stay down.

My tank was a cloudy mess for the longest time...DRO told me that it would settle once I got rock in and he couldn't have been more correct. I have no problems with my sand bed, which is approx. 5" now that I have rock in my tank. You should see improvements immediately.

I think the reason my tank was so cloudy was because after we filled it halfway, I decided it wasn't deep enough, and chucked in another 50 pound bag.
