I am currently running a 75 Gallon tank with a 30 gallon Sump.
Up till today I have been running a Bakpak2 Skimmer. A nice piece of machinery but obviously underpowered but a tank of my size and Bioload. Today I pulled the BakPak off and put it on my 46 Gallon tank.

Now I of course need a new Skimmer for my Main Reef.
My biggest problem is expense. I only have about 150 bucks to spend. 200 Max.
So far I have been looking at the:
Aquarium Systems Seaclone 150 which Big Als has for 79.99
or the:
Red Sea Berlin Skimmer Classic which I can get for 149.99

Now let me give you the other list of problems that makes this a hassle. The Skimmer must either be HoB, run alongside the tank, or be small enough to fit through the 6 inch gap from the top of my Sump to the bottom of my stand. I know the AquaC Remora is considered the best but I believe it is a good bit more expensive. However if you have place I can get it in my price range, by all means please tell me

Aqua-C remora and urchin.......within your price range also.

You know I would say LifeReef, but that would put you about $250 over your budget

I went ahead and ordered an AquaC Remora from there. WHile I could not afford the Pro it was suggested that with a better pump the standard may function just as well as the Pro on my tank.

Yup, I have heard the same thing from people that have upgraded pump sizes. Either way it is a good skimmer and I think you will be happy with it.

I just got a Remora Pro with Mag 3. Only been hooked up for a few days, but it's been pulling out some pretty nasty yellow crap.

Cool. I have always loved my BakPak but I think it is getting overloaded on my Reef and not working right. It works fine on my 46 though. Problem is I cant' run it at night. I think I am going to put it on a timer with my lights so it shuts off at night and I can sleep.

AZZIZA Glad to hear you went with the Aqua C.
Just to make you feel better about your purchase....I bought the one with the Maxi Jet 1200 and thought it quit working. I e-mailed the co. and got a quick responce.Turns out my 75 doesn't have enough load to run this thing constantly. It pulled out so much gunk so fast and then It wasn't getting any colored foam any more.Turned it off for a few days and it was back at it. It does take a few adjustments to get a good dry foam.
Glad to see you posting again

Good to hear. Now if I have problems I can get you over here to fix it.

I am sitting here finishing up a paper and I keep glancing at the door expecting the UPS guy to deliver it any minute now. I hate waiting.

I dont have the drain thing, but I think it's so you can run some airline tubing or something from the collection cup to like a milk jug so you don't have to empty the collection cup as often.

I don't have the drain either.I watch my funds pretty close so I can finish buying rock.I really don't mind dumping the scuze right now ,it gives me the chance to monitor it.I imagine it will become tedious and will add a drain.
