Gerber77 Fingerling Posts: 44 Votes: 0 Registered: 02-Feb-2005 | I have a 29 gallon w/ 15 pounds of live rock. I have a power filter and an undergravel filter. My question is: Will I need a protein skimmer or is my filtration a problem? |

I'd keep the HOB for extra biological filtration, and it's useful if you wanna run carbon or something. Skimmers rock. Pick out a small one and you'll be on your way to a more healthy and happy tank. -Formerly known as the Ferretfish |

The HOB and UGF (which I wouldnt use, along with the crushed coral. Ditch it and go with sugar fine aragonite sand) will not create enough water movement/surface aggitation to keep SW oxygenated the way it needs to be. You will end up with a stagnant tank of water that stinks without proper water flow. |
