I want to set up a 20 gallon sump for my soon to be 55 or 75 and I'm having trouble finding some reading I can do about how to set them up that I can understand. Does anyone have some good links for reading about sumps. Any help you can give me would also be appreciated. This is what I know so far:

1) A sump is a container below your tank where you store alot of your equipment.

2.)It's connetced to your tank by tubing,an overfolw box, and a return pump which water continually flows through like this

a. The over flow box fills with water that rises over the fills line of your tank. When the water reaches a high enough level it goes down a pipe to the sump.

b. This is the part that I don't really understand. How do you set up the inside of your sump. How do you set up and connect different chambers, and then what do you put in each chamber?

c. Then the cleaned water is returned to the tank through the return pump and tubing which in turn causes the overflow to overflow starting the cycle all over again.

I have one last question. When things tanlk about having tanks drilled what does that mean?

Thanks

King Vinnie's site has some good info.Just do a Goggle search and you will find more info than you need.
Having your tank drilled means having a hole drilled for a bulkhead fitting giving you an "in tank" overflow.
An externall overflow can be built or purchased much cheaper and will not risk cracking your tank!
