Human error is being blamed for the deaths of 10 black-tip reef sharks at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium.

Investigators said ozone was accidentally introduced to the shark tank Saturday afternoon.

Much like chlorine, ozone is an energized form of oxygen that is used to purify water.

Wow! when you read about all the accidents they seem to have had you have to think, should they realy be allowed to continue keeping these animals?

I can't speak for the cyanide, but ozone is often used in marine setups to help clear out pathogens and other baddies. I can see how ozone would be in close enough proximity to the tank to be introduced by accident, if it entered through a mishap with an ozonizer.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

Geez... I had a friend who had this happen to him once... his guppies were wiped out when he forgot to age the water during a monthly water change... they suffered chlorine poisoning.

Like they say, accidents happen...
