sk8,

If the color doesn't change then I would say you have 2 girls (less color) and 2 boys (more color). This should also become more obvious when the 2 males start to do the head to toe (pardon - caudal fin) dance.

Have fun,

Ingo

I saw one rubbing its underside on the underside of some anacharis leaves!! Im not sure what to do, but im just so happy!!

Yes they are sk8,

If you would like to learn more about their breeding habits and what to do to protect the fry, read the 51 pages of my 125G log in the Planted Tank section .

In short, they eat the eggs and the frey, if they find them.

Keep an eye out for eggs, if you can find them. They may be too young to have viable fertilized eggs just yet. I see my females doing that same thing every now and then, along with being chased by males etc. Never seen any eggs though.

On the other hand, I'll be incredibly jealous if your harlies breed right off the bat, whereas mine have never done it after a year and a half.

Dang $%^! @!%*^ rasboras! I give you brine shrimp, 50% water changes and all the plants you can get, and still nothing! What more do you want, shag carpets, mood lighting and Barry White?!?!

Back in the saddle!

Sorry to hear that sk8,

Harlies are usually pretty hardy and it takes quite a bit for them to cave in.

Any idea about your tank parameters? If you are most certain that it is cycling related then perform a 30% water change (no vacuuming of gravel) now.
