My light hood has room for an 11 watt flourescent. Its a 5 gal hex, so its pretty tall for live plants.

What are good plants for this?

Do i need an airstone at night?

I dont have room for a Co2 setup, so i was thinking maybe java ferns or the other java plant(cant remember:%))

I'll do graffiti,
If you sing to me in French.

Java Moss is the name you're looking for.

And I don't use CO2 at all (believe me, I have enough issues with my pH dropping already ) and haven't had issues with my plants. I have aponogetons, crypts, java fern and moss, lloydiella, and watersprite (and probably a few others I've failed to mention) and all of these grow decently without additives. Well, I do add fertilizers (both liquid and tabs), but other than that, they grow well.

I'd stay away from anything red (usually requires high light) and after that, it really depends on how much work you want to put into your plants. If you just want to plant it and forget it, go for a crypt. If you don't mind pruning and such, perhaps watersprite (grows quickly) or a stem plant such as lloydiella. Stem plants are nice, because they just keep growing and growing... all you do is snip off the top and replant it and voila! new plant for free.

Also, keep in mind that while you DO have 2 wpg, it's still only 11 watts. I would stick with low light plants such as java moss, java fern, some anubias species, that sort of thing. The aponogeton does really well in my ten gallon (15 watts of light), so may do well in your tank. There's been a bunch of posts on low light plants, so take your pick and look at the suggestions that have been given to other people. That should give you a good start.

Good luck!

Right, hornwort is a good idea. That grows wildly in my betta tanks and the bulbs there are just silly night light bulbs. My vals did good for a month or so, then died in a high light tank. Finicky plants, I guess. *shrugs*
