After reading a thread posted a while ago by Bernard about glass diffusers, i decided to go and purchase one myself to see just how good they were. I purchased an AZOO one which a few people recommended to me.
I was using it at first on a Hagen fermentor set-up. However i could'nt seem to manage to get a fine mist of bubbles like others people on here get, what seemed to be happening was that the co2 was escaping from only a small part of the diffuser and thus i was getting large bubbles instead of a mist. I thought that this was due to using it on a non-pressuried system.
I have recently purchased a dennerle co2 pressurised system. Im still having the same problems with the diffuser.

Can anybody provide some help on what I am doing wrong. Am I maybe over tighening the top of the diffuser or is it not tight enough?

Please Help

Paddy,
First off congrats on going pressurised, you'll find it far easier and more stable then the DIY mixes.

As to the diffuser, what you are seeing is quite normal.

You did fill it with water right ? If not do so as this helps spread the gas.

The ceramic diffusers take a while to settle in.A few days. When first operated they do tend to produce bigger bubbles and the bubbles do seem to only come from one area. After a few days they settle down and produce finer bubbles and spread out a bit. Although even now on my own the bubbles only seem to come from about 50% of the disc, this doesn't effect performance much that I can see.

I also noticed it improves and settles down faster after their first cleaning. Maybe you could try to give it a clean and then run it and see out it goes.Sometimes there's dust and debris trapped in the ceramic, from the packing storage etc.

In case you don't remember how to clean - simply place the ceramic ring in a 50% bleach solution for 10 mins, rinse and then soak in clean water with some regular water conditioner for a another ten minutes.

This should be done regular every 2 to 3 weeks.

What are the Co2 levels in the tank? Even with it's current performance it may be diffusing a lot better then you think.
