That's rather old and assumes PO4 limits algae growth in a planted aquarium, this does not occur. It also assumes that algae and plants are in the same ecological niche and compete, this is also incorrect. Mice and elephants are both herbivores and use similar material for food, but I doubt anyone would suggest they are in the same niche.

PO4 limition = less algae is a myth anyone can prove to themslves, the reverse is actaully seen when we add it to a CO2 enriched tank.

The article does approach plant nutrients/needs except for PO4, nad trhe need for more CO2. That part is good. The mian premise of PO4 limitation helps plants outcompete algae is patently wrong.
