I am thinking about adding Ambulia to my 55g.

There are 2 different types on AquariumPlants.com. Asian Ambulia and regular Ambulia.

Will either type grow in 2.4 wpg with no CO2? Will it grow pretty good or poorly?

I think this plant looks great and I would love to add it to my 55g.

Asian ambulia will grow slowly in 2.4 WPG with no CO2. It should be healthy but it may grow leggy (lots of space between where the leaves com eout along the stem) and will definetely be slow to grow up and fill out. CO2 will make it explode like a weed. No experience growing it with Excel rather than CO2. Pretty plant, it's classified as a weed in the US so don't flush clippings down the toilet.

EDIT: yeah, just thought about it some more. What makes it so pretty is when you plant it in bushes, when it fills out and gets that bushy look, that's when it looks its best. CO2 is a must to make it look like that, at least IME.

Thanks Nowherman. I may rethink it. I like it, but I like the bushy look. I think I'll wait until I set up my 38g CO2 planted tank.
