rickyz,

Anacharis, aka Egeria Najas, can very well be in the full sun, although it would be interesting to know what you mean by full sun .

How many watts of light do you have in the tank and how big is the tank?

.. or maybe he means can he keep it in a tank with direct sunlight? In that case yes, because direct sunlight is going to be stronger than any lighting you can put over your tank.

In any case, it does not need to be put in the shade. It grows fast enough that algae will not form on the leaves with too much light...

Ah, that would make sense NowherMan6, the real sun

But, would one put any tank in the real full sun? Even if the Egeria Najas grows fast enough to avoid being befallen with algae, what about the rest of the plants (if any are there) and the tank itself? And what about the heat?

I guess only rickyz can tell us

Ingo

I have a 2.5 gallon betta tank that gets a few hours of indirect sunlight. it has anubias and hornwort, and the hornwort is growing slowly and algae free, w/o green water which is usually associated with direct sunlight.

Ricky, hornwort grows at a similar rate to your plant in question, so i imagine the same would hold true. If it's sunlight you plan on using, then maybe make sure it isn't direct sunlight, that way you'll avoid some algae issues. The plant will grow regardless, as long as it has some source of light, carbon and nutrients.

No, what I mean is that the sun hits the plants directly from above. Its just that I am planing that because I wanna sell them to my LFS. But the Monday I putted one stem in direct sun and today the leaves where brown and clear, they weren't green like always.

Were the plants in a tank? Outside or inside?

What is the outside temperature and the temperature in your water at midday when the sun is the strongest?

I think it is like 74 farenheit here now that it's winter, in midday in the mornings it is like 65 farenheit.
