OK I know you an get Java Moss, and Java Fern to root to drift wood, but it seems most any plants I touch die on contact lately, except Anarcharis...

So the question is could/would Anarcharis root to Drift Wood in the same way as Java Moss and Java Fern? Has anyone ever done this before? I do think I would like how it looked...Can I have some pointers?

Anacharis is the first plant I tried and I've had a lot of luck with it. I haven't heard of anyone trying it with driftwood, but it's worth a try.

This first pic is my Endler's tank. The entire back is anacharis. Once a week I trim and replant. You can see the roots growing out from about the middle of the plant, that's why I'm wondering if attaching it to wood might work.

And of course floating anacharis. The last time I measured, one piece in this tank was almost 8' long

If you do try it and it works please let us know.

this has to do with the nature of the roots - think about the anubis family, their roots actually stick to things - if they touch gravel, they stick onto it, when u pull them from substrate you can see this easily. other plants latch on by sending so many fine roots out that they tangle themselves onto a surface, eg java fern...but other plants use roots simply to anchor and feed themselves, and anacharis is one of them.

Anarcharis will never attach. The roots on Anubias and Ferns are especially designed to get a grip on objects.

But it doesn't need to be rooted and can survive floating. So you can create the illusion that it's growing on driftwood. Tie a small rock or lead weight to the bottom of a bunch and put it sitting on the driftwood in such a way that the anchor is hidden. It will look likes it's growing there but will never actually attach.

The same method can be used for Wisteria.

I did have a thought though.
The anacharis is darker in color than most of the stem plants and a grouping or that with a piece of driftwood in the middle would look really nice
