inkodinkomalinko![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fish Guru Posts: 2441 Kudos: 833 Registered: 18-Jan-2003 ![]() ![]() | Well... I've killed all my plants so far, even anachris, vallisneria, water lettuce, amazon swords... Being stupid as I am, I'm thinking about adding anubias to my tank. Its a 20 gallon with power compacts (not sure how many watts, I think total outputt is 2.5 Watts / Gallon. So...should I plant the anubias, attach them to driftwood, attach them to rock...or something else? Fish are 3 neolamprologus pulcher *daffodil* and 3 neolamprologus brichardi, about 1" for growout purposes. Does the liquid plant fertilizer help? Would I need Co2?? Theres also this black gravel my LFS sells for like $18 a bag...they call it "live plant soil" Should I grab two bags of that? |

Are the fish eating/digging up/harrassing the plants? Are you adding ferts? I assume you have fluorescent lights, right? (Dumb question, I know, but best to check!) I'd say it's very odd you've lost all those plants - probably better to find out what the heck's going on before trying something else. -Molly Visit shelldwellers.com! |

I thought I couldnt go wrong this time ![]() The sand is black sand (I think it's tahitan). No ferts or anything... pH is 7.6 Lights are Fluorescent, I might get some new ones.. |

They are virtually unkillable. I'd tie it onto rocks, you don't want driftwood to be missing up the ph for your cichlids. ![]() The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. - Oscar Wilde |

inkodinkomalinko![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fish Guru Posts: 2441 Kudos: 833 Registered: 18-Jan-2003 ![]() ![]() | Actually I keep driftwood in my tang tanks. The pH is 8.6 out of tap, and with the shells the pH would be about 9, so the driftwood helps keep it at 7.6 ![]() Anubias it is, should I add flourish or other plant supplements? |

I heard they wouldn't, but they did. ]:| I've recently removed the plants to a 10-gallon where hopefully they can recouperate. They can do pretty well in low light, though. The only plants that seem to have done well with the brichardis are java ferns and java moss. ><> |

I'm actually going to be setting up another 50 gallon, so I might try them out there. Its going to be a growout tank for 6 frontosa prematures until I get my 100. The lighting is going to be two 17 inch 18 watt fluorescent bulbs. Think it'll work or should I get new bulbs? |
