cynical,

You say that only 2 are above suggested dose, but

a) That could be enough to create an imbalance. They both are micros and BGA is said to be able to fix its own Nitrates, sounds like this could be the reason. Did the Amazon show a sign of Iron deficiency?
b) What is the base for the suggested dosage? A fully planted tank, I assume. And you have ways to go before you have that. My assumption is that overdose all.

Plus, I cannot be sure about this, but what I see from your pictures is that the BGA is on the opposite side of the tank than where your filter is. In addition, flow to the filter is handicapped from these areas as it is blocked by rock and driftwood. Maybe there is no major water flow in these areas which is the issue I had (see first entry in this thread).

It might very well be a combination of all 3.

Hope this helps,

Ingo

i have a internal power filter (500LPH or 130GPH?) it sits at the back RHS of the tank, output maybe 2" below the waters surface.

on fert dosing, only my flourish and iron are above normal suggested dosing, flourish shouldn't make any difference as long as i do my large w/c??
and iron i dosed extra because i have a fairly large sword which i thought might need a bit extra??

my only other question on ferts is about the flourish nitrogen, is this really the same thing as dosing nitrate or should i stop dosing flourish nitrogen and potass, and get my hands on some KN03?

Cheers Cynical

Cynical,

I once had an outbreak of BGA (and yes, your picture shows BGA) in my 20G Long, also 2x20w of light.

The first think I see is that your tank is not well planted, it is maybe half planted. If you are dosing for a well planted tank then you are overdoing it.

In my tank, the issue was a lack of water movement. I had an AquaClear 50 on the back glass , but on one side. Now I placed it in the middle of the back and it is fine, no other changes (except for getting rid off the BGA first as otherwise it will not go away).

What filter do you have? Where does it sit?

Ingo
