Right now I have 2 light strips equaling 3 florescent bulbs. One with a standard bulb and 2 which have the Power-Glo series. I was also looking to get either Sun-Glo or Aqua-Glo bulbs to replace the regular bulb in there, which one would be better for live HIGH light requiring plants? Thanks! |

For bulb types, any type of daylight/plant/sun/etc. bulb should have the correct spectrum for growing plants. Most high-light plants are going to need at least 3 wpg. For your 30G, you are looking at 90+ watts. Unfortunately, this is difficult to achieve with most standard fluorescent fixtures. A 30G is a 36" tank, right? A 36" compact fluorescent fixture would be a easy way to get enough light over the tank, but it's probably not going to be considered cheap: http://www.hellolights.com/361xcofraq1x.html Depending on the wpg of your current setup, there could be plenty of low to medium light requirement plants which could grow very well for you. |
