Hi,

Well as some of you know i'm batlling with this black brush algae pest, that is devastating some of my plants, well i started treatment with the azoo's black algae killer, so far so good, but today as i was doing the regular water change of the tank, as i have to do it twice since the med kills the bio filter. I noticed that my 3 hillstream loaches and 2 stray guppies actually where eating the little tufts of the algae!!! i never thought this could happen!! not even ottos go near the stuff, so i stayed a while to see, and the loaches literarly suck it clean from the leaves!! I love these guys even more now!!

My hillstream loaches would eat beard algae, and spot algae, and livebearers are known to munch on algae.

I really wouldn't suggest chemical algae killers. Are you running Co2? How high is your light? Black Brush Algae usually becomes a problem when Co2 levels are insufficient or inconsistent. The suggestion is usually to increase Co2 and decrease light.
