Granted, I'm not a plant newbie, nor am I a master. The tank currently runs at 2 watts of PC lighting per gallon. I dose nothing expect potassium (as with all my planted tanks) and even then only sparingly. The tank is stocked with five weitzmani corydoras and three adolfo corydoras, with the odd and end snail/amano shrimp. I might even have a young ancistrus fry in there. Nitrates are currently stuck at about 10 ppm and I have a fairly nice anudias nana+nana petite flower growing there along with some taiwan moss and a nice carpet of glosso. No C02 to be heard of. So anyways, in addition to the plants I'm ordering, I'm thinking of perhaps purchasing a few stems of blyxa, but the question is whether or not the plant will grow in a 2wpg, non CO2 environment. Currently, I have the macros covered with the heavy stocking, minus the K, which I dose. In addition, I do a near fifty percent WC weekly to replenish micros. The glosso has been fine in both this and my other planted tanks which get the same water change/dosing regime, if that's any indication. |

But I would suggest not getting the Blyxa. A small tank needs much more light than a large tank to achieve similar effects in plant growth and definition (aka high - medium light). Tetratech has the Blyxa in his 72G with quite a bit of light on it, but because it is partially shaded it doesn't do much. I would assume it wouldn't do too well in your tank either. If you feel up for an experiment then I would say get it anyway, but keep us posted on how it does. It is a nice plant. Hope this helps a little, Ingo ![]() |
