I always seem to have one problem with my planted tanks. Brown dusty material that sticks to all my plants. It does come off when I shake them, but goes right back on again.
Does anyone know what I can do to eliminate this. My tank is about 1 year old, using Eheim Ecco Canister filter, lots of driftwood, java moss, java fern, Wisteria and Vals.

Help!!

This happens to me too, apparently its the dirt in the water. When I clean my tank, debre for the gravel end up on the leaves. Just give the tank for water flow and it should be fine.

A quick filter with a fine floss to trap the particles may help. However I'm pretty sure this is what you want to settle into the substrate to be consumed by the plants, and removing it frowm the tank wont' help the plants any .

Mangor - I didn't quite follow what you were saying.

Babelfish - I believe you are right, part of my problem I believe is that have a lot of java moss covering my
substrate , which traps this dirt. I am constantly cleaning the java moss and it ends up lifting the dirt everywhere.

When you play with the gravel dirty stuff will float in the water, it then gets traped on the surface of things in the tank and that is the brown dusty material on the plants. Just give more flow in the tank and it should be better.
