You'd do better just getting some white. Brown, while more natural of a sugar (hasn't had all the molasses removed) it's more expensive, supply and demand, I'd just get some @the store tomorrow, the next day, next week ....whenever. I ran out of sugar as well a few weeks ago, only time I use it is for the tank, and well....the tank went without for a few weeks

Okay, thanks. On another note, would it be a good idea to keep a small airstone in my tank, just to make sure my fish don't suffocate? I'm running 2 cups sugar and half a tablespoon of yeast in a rather crowded 10 gallon.

froos' got it right...any surface agitation will release the CO2, not something you really want . Watch the fish closely, they should be just fine ...but you do need to take care when adding CO2. Have a look @[link=this link]http://www.thekrib.com/Plants/CO2/" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link] and also [link=this one]http://www.thekrib.com/Plants/CO2/hardness-larryfrank.html" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link] paying attention to the chart @the bottom of the second link.

Actually a little molassis in the mix won't hurt and may benefit your results... The first batch I made (accidentally) had a little brown sugar mixed in with white sugar.. Although I'd definately not put ALL brown sugar in there, just a bit.. There was no harm done and I was pretty happy with the result.

Piscesgirl uses some molassis in her mix.
