hi, just wondering but can anyone tell me white type of plant this may be? it looks exactly like grass but the outer paremeter of the blades are white then dark green, i think @ the lfs they called it momo grass or mongo grass, or something.have had it 4 two days and it seems to be doing good.my neon seem to love it and i really like it also.i would also like to get more but they only order it every-so-often so if i knew what it was called i could get more and also look up care to see if im giving it what it needs.

Cichlid,

Look at This Link, the picture shows Mondo Grass (tall and skinny in the back). Also, the thread contains more info about it.

Cichlid,

You are welcome

Well, I was going by your mentioning of the Mondo Grass.

If I go by your color descripton then I have to dig deep into my memory and the one thing I believe to remember is a rather global statement:

Plants that are white and green are not aquatic plants and will die eventually when fully submersed.

I know that this is not good news, but it also wouldn't be the first time I am wrong with a statement. A picture would help a lot.

hi little_fish i google them and her is the article from http://www.floridata.com/ref/A/acor_gra.cfm in one spot it says suitable for aquaria below ill put parenthesis around them.()

Japanese sweet flag is an (aquatic) or wetland perennial with semievergreen grasslike foliage. It has narrow, 6-14 in (15-35.6 cm) glossy leaves and looks like thick, lush grass. The leaves are carried in two ranks, like opposing fans. They are flat, about a 0.5 in (1.3 cm) wide and tend to flop over. The insignificant flowers, shaped like little horns, are produced in midsummer on erect hollow stems. (Usually only plants grown in water produce flowers.) The cultivar, 'Ogon' (a.k.a. 'Wogon') is also called golden variegated Japanese sweet flag, or Japanese rush. It has arching foliage with cream and chartreuse stripes, and is a little smaller than the species, with leaves a 0.25 in (0.6 cm) wide and just 10 in (25.4 cm) long. 'Variegatus' has green and white striped leaves. 'Licorice' has foliage and rhizomes that smell like anise. 'Minimus', and 'Minimus Aureus' which has yellowish leaves, are tiny cultivars, only 3 in (7.6 cm) tall and (suitable for aquaria and small pots)
so what do u think?think it could grow in an aquarium?

From the description it is Japanese Dwarf Rush. It's not an aquatic although quite often sold as one. The leaves will eventually disintegrate within a couple of months. There's nothing you can do about that.

Why do a lot of LFS sell these things ? Well you'd be amazed at the number of people who think aquatic plants are supposed to die after a few months. They think it's normal, the LFS are quite happy to cater to this.

Cichlid,

If Bensaf says so then it is probably true. I am glad he more or less validated my assumption, not glad for you but glad that I wasn't far off.

Good luck,

Ingo
