 | Canister Or HOB for 55 planted |
wuddio  Hobbyist Posts: 55 Kudos: 58 Votes: 1 Registered: 29-Dec-2004 | Now I have 2 aquaclear 300 on the tank, but I know alot of people run canisters. I am thinking about changing, but wanted to get some advice. Thanks in advance |

Babelfish     Administrator Small Fry with Ketchup Posts: 6833 Kudos: 8324 Votes: 1570 Registered: 17-Apr-2003    | The only reason to go with cannister over HOB on a planted IMO is that HOB's will often lead to CO2 loss which is a problem if you are injecting CO2. However if you keep the water level high you don't get all that much surface agatation on your tanks. | moondog Moderator The Hobnob-lin Posts: 2676 Kudos: 1038 Votes: 4366 Registered: 30-Sep-2002 | well, i used to use a canister on my 50g tank, but it was too powerful for my plants. they used to get literally blown out of the gravel from the current  as long as you get one that is rated for your tank it should be fine. personally, i would rather go back to canister for my planted tank since a HOB will cause too much surface agitation once the tank level drops down"That's the trouble with political jokes in this country... they get elected!" -- Dave Lippman |
