I want to have a few plants and then a plant that will carpet empty spaces. Does anyone know of a plant that will cover my bare spots, but doesnt require CO2 or a ton of light? I'll do graffiti, If you sing to me in French. |

Most of the nice carpets do require high light (lower-light substitutions like Dwarf Sag are nice plants but really don't have that effect since they're rather tall and bunch up in groups). However, with a little work and ingenuity you can make a carpet out of low-light plants - Anubias nana tied to rocks that are then buried can cover good areas, although it may take a while. A Java fern leaf with a bit of rhizome, weighed down with pebbles, will often send up baby plants from all over its upward face that soon form a sort of lawn over the leaf. Crypts can form surprisingly quickly a dense, vibrant - albeit tall - carpet. And did I mention good ol' java moss? -Molly Visit shelldwellers.com! |
