Does anyone have Cladophora aegagropila? Select this name from the list at Tropica

You can see the picture here, as well as requirements. It says it is easy, but that you may need to rotate this thing so it maintains it's round figure. It looks kind of cool. Any drawbacks that we know of?

Those are usually called "moss balls" in most pet stores. They're pretty neat... Tropica has the description right on. We had one in a 65 gallon display tank at my store a while back. It somehow made its way to the back of the tank, under a dense cover of plants, and everyone forgot about it. When I gutted the tank about a year later, it was totally fine; still round, still green... seems like these little guys are pretty easy to keep alive.

The only big drawback is an alarming metamorphosis into a more aggressive form. As cute as they are, PLEASE don't feed them after midnight. They may form "moss pods". If this happens, destroy them immediately and gather your family in a protected area.

Just checking to see who was around for "Gremlins".

haha....gremlins. But they would multiply in water too. Watch out!

I have these(or 1 of them anyways) and it is one of the plants I've had the longest. Sometimes it will collect some particulate matter after water changes, and I just give it a good shake and squeeze under water to get it off. Sometimes it does wander around the tank on it's own. Maybe it's with the current or whatever, but it is kind of gremlinesque....or maybe there's a little hamster in there.
