Hey Folks,

I'm currently in the process of picking out some plants that I'll be putting into a 46gal bowfront.. I'll be using my old VHO setup so the tank will have 330watts over it (if that's overkill, let me know because I can always remove one of the bulbs)..

Right now, I've got these plants on my list of "wants" and if you've got any experience with them (good or bad), I'd be interested in hearing about it.. I chose them because they were classified as "easy" to "moderate" on the websites I browsed:

Variegated Japanese Dwarf Rush (Acorus Variegatus)
Rotala Indica (Rotala Indica)
Chain Sword (Echinodorus Tenellus)
Onion Plant (Crinum Thaianum)
Jungle Vallisneria (Vallisneria Americana)
Amazon Sword (Echinodorus Amazonicus)
Banana Plant (Nymphoides Aquatica)
Temple Narrow Leaf (Hygrophila Corymbosa)

The only things on this list that I've kept in the past are the Jungle Vallisneria and the Amazon Swords, so all info will be greatly appreciated..

Also, suggestions for plants that you enjoy would help me out immensely.. I have already received a really nice bunch of baby java ferns and java moss from Gourami, and those will soon take up residence with whatever other plants I can find

Thanks in advance for any help!!

One bit of advise I can give, is place your plants in the tank, according to their light needs. As some plants you have listed or already aquired, have needs of different light levels, and the low light level plants will brown over if placed in direct lighting from those lights.

Here is a site, with hundreds of plants listed, with pics and complete info on them. Very informative!

One more thing, I take it this is your old reef tank? If so, I am thinking you had an open top on it without lids? If so, this is great, as several of those plants listed will have shoots go up and out of the water, and they have really nice blooms on them. The onion plant has a beautiful 2-3 inch orchid like flower on it. I love it when mine blooms. You may even consider placing an acrylic cover for the front of your canopy so that you can enjoy the flowers.

Thanks for the link, ACIDRAIN.. I'm sure I'll put it to good use over the next few weeks..

Also, yes, this tank is topless and I'm looking forward to hopefully having some flowers from some of the plants.. I've also got my eye on a particular piece of driftwood and if I get it, there will be ample space to place some of the less light loving plants..

Thanks for the help
