Finally, I have pics of my 55 since planting. Any comments on aquscaping welcome....just be gentle, I bruise easily.

This is the left side of the tank!

One more full tank shot.....just for good measure. My camera is not the best, I'm just lucky to have one ATM.

Personally I think it's very nice looking

There will be a big change when your smaller plants in the front start growing and filling in

I'm counting on it. That's E. tenellus out front there....hopefully it will stay short and fill in making a lawn-like effect. My Red Rubin sword didn't take well to the transport and replant and it's looking poorly back there, but it has a bunch of brand new baby leaves coming up in the center so, I think it's on the road to recovery.

I have some Valiisneria in there that can't really be seen right now because I almost killed them with Excel. I now have mixed the CO2 and will be firing it up today...so no more Excel for this tank. I'm very proud of all the plants and how they are looking. My sunset hygro has kept the red coloring in the leaves, so they must be getting enough light, and my cabomba is looking really good so it must be getting enough light too. YAY for PC lights!!!

Here's a plant list:

Corkscrew Val
Jungle Val
3 Amazon Swords
Red Rubin Sword
Bacopa carloinia (I think)
Cabomba
Narrow-leaf Ludwigia
E. tennellus
Sunset hygro
Wisteria
behind the DW is some red fox-tail (waiting for it to grow in)
another type of hygro in the middle.
floating wisteria

Finally pictures!!!

It looks great! I agree that when the foreground fills in it will cover the bare spots. But other than that, I think the aquascape looks really good. Lots better than any of mine.

I love that big piece of driftwood! I am currently searching for some nice wood for another 55g tank.

Let me know how the CO2 works out for you. I may be interested in trying the non-pressurized kind on the new tank.

What fish do you have in there now?

Oh, for now it's just my 3 adult platies from my 29 and about 5-6 fry that are different ages....from different batches. These platies are your typical livebearers....multiplying like rabbits! I'm hoping that when I add the rams and angels that I want to add later, they'll provide fry control!

That is not one piece of driftwood, but two. they almost fit together perfectly....like they were cut from each other. ATM, I have a chunk of java moss perched between the 'gap'. Hopefully, it will fill in there and make the logs look even more like one piece.

I'll let you know on the Red Sea DIY CO2 system. I tried to start it up at lunch (a little more than 24 hours after mixing the stuff as per the instructions), but I don't think it's making CO2 yet....will try again later in the evening.

You definitely have a lot of hiding places for fry, but angels are notorious for fry-control.

I like the driftwood as well.

I think you're well on your way to having a nice jungle in there Any plans for bottom feeders?

Yeah, I'm going to get a Hypancistrus like I have in my 29. Right now, I'm thinking of getting a Queen Arabesque.

Ok, it's a start

It will be a while anyway until the tank is settled and in the meantime I am sure you will re-arrange loads of plants once you see how they grow in.

Personally, I think you have a sword overload. 3 Amazon and the red rubin will fill up your tank by themselves, IMHO, and leave very little room for all the other plants (including because of shading).

Can we expect more pictures in the future or was this a one-time event?

Yeah, the swords are kind of my "for now" fill in plants. I will probably take some out as the other stem plants start to take off. I will post more piccies as the tank evolves and I add fish, plants, etc.

You know, you get the swords and they are already nice and full and make the tank look nice to start, but stem plants take a while to root and fill in. My cabomba is already really looking good, and so is that sunset hygro. All in all, I'm pretty proud of how it looks.

Looks really good crazyred. Your floating wisteria looks great. I'm so jealous, I cant get mine to grow, it just seems to break apart and not do very much at all.

Can't wait to see it when its grown in a bit more. Keep the pics coming.

Those who say they cant, Never will !!!
