DIY Co2 | |
aquapickle27 Enthusiast Posts: 182 Kudos: 98 Votes: 55 Registered: 28-Jan-2006 | I just set up my first DIY co2 system and it is working, but i just had a few questions. Am i supposed to inject co2 constantly (night/day)? I dont have a bubble counter, so i dont know how many Bubbles per second there are. Should i worry about it? i am estimating at 3 bubbles per second Is that ok? the bubbles also come in random shots for for about a minute at a time OK? †Aquapickle† |

Depends on what size your tank is whether or not you worry about it. Also the buffering capacity of your water. Small tanks (usually less than 10 gallong) with low KH can experience a pH crash if they have too much CO2. On my 10, I have relatively soft water, no bubble counter, and I haven't had any problems. ><> |

I was told that you dont need to run the CO2 at night as i could cause your tanks PH to drop also. I have a power head on mine and I run the power head in the daytime but the CO2 is connected at night but with no vaccum so i comes out when it wants to. How did you create your own DIY system?? I used a bubble bar for my diffuser. I have had mine up for a week and i think it has done wonders. Algae growth seemed to have stopped almost completely. Plants are greener and are looking more healthy. I checked my ph 3 days after i set it up. My ph is almost exactly 7.0 right now It usually runs around 7.2-7.4 w/o co2. My tank is a 38 gal. †Aquapickle† |
