hola
after a change of plan my 20g will house some pretty harcore plants. since it will be a almost 3 wpg tank with lots of ferts all it needs is c02. just wanted to see if im doing this right.im doin the c02 pop bottle with the output tube inside my aquaclear intake. do you think it will wrk properly?im a bit worried by excessive c02 cncentrations in the tank and it messing with my ph.my water is rather hard so it might not be that bad but still im worried.anyways here is my plants list for the 16g (yea i know it used to be a 20g but i put it trough a tank calculator and 16g came up)

16g
aquaclear 150
2x 20 watt fluo bulbs
dyo c02 injection
seachem root tabs and comprehensive suplement

plants
vallisneria torta (corkscrew)
echinodorus parviflorus and tennelus
hygrophila difformis
saggitaria platiphyla
bolbitis heudelotti
cryptocoryne wendtii green tall, willisi
anubias nana
java fern
glossostigma

the low light plants will be shaded bu the big high light ones so dont worry. what do yall think?

hey M.A.G.

Personally I have never hd a problem with low light plants
in high light tanks. Their ability to tolerate lower
lighting does not mean they are incapable of tolerating
high lighitng. I have had Javafern and Anubias directly
under 6WPg and never seen any harm. at first they may
stress a bit but they will adjust over time.

As for worrying about DIY CO2 I Have never heard of anyone
ODing their tank on DIY CO2, unless it is like a 2G or
something, but even then I have personally never heard of
teh like. Adding CO2 will lower your pH but it really is
nothing you should be worrying about with DIY. pressurized
is a different ball game. you should be fine.

HTH,
Megil.

HOB filter as a reactor is decent but can be noisy and less efficient than other methods. The trickiest thing about DIY CO2 is that it by its nature is unstable, and here is how I like to cope with it, fwiw.

Wisteria can quickly take over a small tank. As a suggestion, look at some smaller leaved plants, such as most Rotala sp. and Hemianthus micranthemoides, aka Baby Tears.
