I just bought a dwarf hairgrass plant for my 5g betta tank. How do you plant those things? It came in one of those black plastic containers with that brown-green mushy stuff inside. I just put the whole thing on the gravel, but that doesnt look normal. What do I do?

Thanks!

Hi,

Take out the green mushy stuff out of the pot and then gently detach the plants from it, trying not to rip roots the best you can. You will then be left with several clumps of hairgrass in varying sizes and you need to plant those in the substrate. The easiest way to do it is to use a pair of tweezers. Don't plant them right on top of each other but leave some space between them. They will eventually fill that space.

Hope this helps.

The mushy stuff you call it, is a wool synthetic and should be removed very carefully as not to injure the roots.

when you use the tweezers, catch the upper parts of the roots, where they're thickest, and don't hold them too firmly, not to hurt the roots.

push them in the substrate gently, then release the tweezers, and lift your hand.

i also shortened the roots with sharp scissors, to help me get them all in the ground.
