I am new to plants and right now I have 2 java ferns, and 2 crypts. The java ferns are doing well, but the crypts seem a little sad. I don't have co2 and don't think I will anytime in the near future. If anyone can make any suggestions to some other easy plants, preferably ones that my fish won't devour......I would be very greatful. Thanks Oh ya I have 4 watts per gallon in a 75 gallon tank.....thanks again!

thanks I'm going to check that out now I was told that anubias liked low light, so I was hesitant about getting some.

Crypts and java fern also like low light but most will grow fine in highlight as well. They tend to get alot of algae on them though. If you are planning on keeping only easy to grow plants without co2 it might be better to lower the light. It can be quite difficult to keep the plants ahead of the algae when you have that much light and no co2. With alot of thought to the types of plants it can be done but you have a much higher chance of having tons of algae growing in the tank. Co2 is usually recommended when the tank has over 2wpg of light.

Anubias are quite easy to keep, as long as you attach them to a piece of Driftwood or Rock. They are also low light Plants.

Hi, what fish do you have in that tank?
it must be awfully bright in there.

My LFS has a very good 65g Amazon tank, it only has 40w of lighting as the plants are anubias, stem swords etc.

I had only one of the lights on at a time, so that it wasn't that bright, but the other night I got tired of the look and I put two spare bulbs in, so now it is only a 0.4 watts per gallon. I plan on hiting a lfs in the next couple of days. I want to have 2 watts per gallon for a while and not worry about co2. I have 7 platys, 8 black neons, and 1 oto, (soon to be 6).
