Hi,

After a while of looking and looking i could finally get a hold of a Tropica pot of this plant, it wasn't in such a good condition, but i got it anyway. I brought it home and plant it on a really high light tank (4WPG), Knowing it would do better in those light conditions. Several weeks have passed and i can't seem to make the plants come back, the first weeks they lost a lot of their leaves, and they are slowly growing, but acording to what i know about them they are supossed to be fast growers.

Could anyone with expirience with this palnt can give me some tips on how to make it grow faster and better?

Light is on about 10 hours a day, it gets flourish excell dose daily and Master Grow dose every week, the substrate is fine pea gravel.

Thanks!

The Tennellus in pots is usually emmersed growth. Erect dark green spear like leaves. These will die off in the first few weeks. So that may explain that phenomenom.

I also find them to be pretty slow growers. Despite light, lots of co2 and ferts they remain one of the slower growers in the tank.

I've given up trying to speed up their growth and let them do their thing. Maybe they'll surprise me some day.

Thanks Bernard! I'll just stay put and watch it do it's thing

What i did observed last time i did a w/c and one came off the substrate is that the original roots died and it's growing new ones, so i guess it the emerged thing you mentioned.

As soon as mine dropped their emersed leaves, they kicked it into overtime. I wish I had a current picture, because one plant has sent out about 20-30 new plants on the same runner, stretching over 3ft long(one side of my tank to the other). The rest are doing about as well. I need to start taking some back for store credit (or send some to you if yours don't make it). So give me a PM if they die out, and I'll see what I can do.

They are echinodorus species, so I put some root tabs in with them, and you might want to try that too.

Not a problem at all Falstaf, actually more of a solution to a problem really!

but the tennelus are sturdy enough for me to do a thorough cleaning with the gravel vac, I just push them aside. They take the beating without a problem.

Falstaf - I agree about the slow growth. Mine have been in my tank for a month now and I think after about 2 weeks I had to trim the emmersed growth off. New leaves have grown and I have 3 runners from 1 plant. The leaves do seem to get quite dirty although I recently added some new plants which had some tiny snails on them which I didn't see and now they seem to be cleaning alot of the gunk from the leaves. I have root tabs near them. 1 from seachem and I also bought some sera-florenette ones and added 2 near them also.

When you see other tanks with this plant in I wish mine looked the same... 1 day hopefully as my foreground is very bare at the moment.
